Assistant Deputy for Human Resources

With annual operations of more than $570 million, the North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) provides drinking water treatment/delivery, wastewater collection/treatment, and solid waste services to approximately 1.8 million people. Covering 2,200 square miles spread across 10 counties, the District serves about 80 communities with drinking water, more than 1.3 million people with wastewater collection and treatment, and approximately 900,000 with waste management services. It also operates one of the nation’s largest advanced water treatment plants with a capacity of 876 million gallons per day.

In alignment with the District’s staffing goals, the Assistant Deputy for Human Resources is an integral component in ensuring the highest quality staff members are recruited and retained for optimum performance at all levels throughout the organization. With ongoing changes to the workplace and demands for innovative methods, the incoming Assistant Deputy for Human Resources will be called upon to be a visionary who can work with the Human Resources team as a transformational, versus transactional, leader to take the organization to a higher level. This individual must have the ability to work within the framework of familiarity yet recognize the impact of the recent pandemic upon the workplace as well as employee recruitment and retention efforts to move the organization forward in a new environment.

The selected individual must hold a bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Public Administration or a related field from an accredited college or university. A master’s degree is preferred. The person selected for this position should have five to seven years of progressive Human Resources and supervisory experience and extensive knowledge of personnel law and practices. A valid Texas driver’s license is required or the ability to obtain within six months of employment. While desired, municipal government experience is not required. Senior Certified Human Resources Professional designation and/or certification is preferred. Additional certifications may be requested.

The annual salary range for this position is $144,400 to $213,700 dependent upon experience and qualifications.
