Tri Pointe Homes is looking for an experienced, detail orientated, problem-solving individual to join our talented group as a Benefits Manager in our Home Office!

Position Highlights: The Benefits Manager is responsible for the design, implementation, and administration of all benefits, wellness, leave/ADA, retirement, and workers compensation programs at Tri Pointe Homes and all of its subsidiaries and affiliate entities. This position monitors market practices, trends, and regulatory environments to ensure benefit offerings remain highly competitive, fiscally responsible, and legally compliant. While the Benefits Manager supervises a Benefits Specialist to ensure all day-to-day administration is handled appropriately, this is a hands-on role requiring the education of employees on the Company’s benefit programs, as well as managing, developing, and coaching team members.

Position Responsibilities:

Lead benefits plan design, including competitive and performance analysis, renewal strategy, and budget/cost management
Evaluate future potential benefits to ensure the Company is investing in the right areas to attract and retain diverse top talent; present recommendations, changes, and enhancements to leadership
Lead implementation efforts and administration of new and existing programs, including annual Open Enrollment; work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to implement new benefit offerings and streamline operations
Drive adoption of and engagement with employee benefit programs by developing communication strategies, project plans, and materials to enhance employees’ understanding of benefits offerings, partnering and leveraging the Company’s brokers, and other third party vendors to ensure maximum efficiency
Lead, manage and drive participation in the Company’s wellness programs, and perform ongoing analysis of design, ROI, cost-effectiveness, and future revisions or enhancements
Develop strong relationships with our brokers, advisors, TPAs, carriers, and other vendors, ensuring high-performance standards are met or exceeded; maximizing efficiencies and periodically market available vendor services
Oversee Benefits Specialist who is responsible for day-to-day administration, including but not limited to maintaining enrollment and eligibility data (including processing qualifying events/changes), processing billing/invoices (and reconciling/resolving billing discrepancies), maintaining HR/Benefit information systems, and vendor databases/connections with payroll and third-party vendors, day-to-day 401(k) plan enrollment and administration, wellness program administration, workers compensation claims, new leaves of absence coordination with leave administrator, employee questions/concerns, as well as reporting and regular audits of all of the above to ensure accuracy, etc.
Leverage brokers/vendors/third parties and Benefits Specialist to ensure smooth and efficient day-to-day administration and great employee service is provided
Proactively engage with Benefits Specialist, HR business partners, broker or other third parties to timely and appropriately resolve complex and escalated issues
Oversee the Company’s leave/ADA and Workers Compensation administration vendors, and ensure that leaves, accommodation requests, and workers compensation claims are processed and managed timely and effectively by vendors (with support of day-to-day administration from the Benefits Specialist)
Educate and collaborate with HR business partners, employees, and managers regarding leaves of absence, ADA, and WC processes/issues providing necessary training, support, and resources
Closely collaborate with HR business partners regarding leaves of absence, return to work, reasonable accommodation requests (including the interactive process), and workers compensation matters.
Routinely coordinate with vendors to review claims history, open cases, and potential risks to identify trends, areas for improvement and resolve issues on time.
Leverage brokers to conduct annual market and vendor performance evaluations, evaluate trends, and identify areas for potential improvement
Keep abreast of applicable laws and ensure regulatory compliance (for example, ACA, ERISA, HIPAA, FMLA, CFRA, ADA, and other applicable federal and state-related laws impacting benefits, wellness, workers compensation, leave, and disability management)
Ensure completion of all necessary compliance activities, including annual plan audits, non-discrimination testing, required notice distributions, and filings (e.g., 401(k) audit, SAR, Form 5500, etc.)
Ensure all plan policies and documents are accurate and available to employees; ensure policies and procedures are followed and assist in policy creation and education
Ensure vendor contracts/agreements are reviewed and/or renewed annually (with approval of the Director of Total Rewards).
Work closely with Benefits Specialist to monitor and troubleshoot weekly benefit provider file feeds and data
Assist with HR/Total Rewards forecasting and budgeting
Other duties and projects as assigned

Position Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in a related discipline such as Business, Finance, or HR
A minimum of 5 years experience performing benefits analysis, design, implementation, and administration
A minimum of 5 years experience overseeing or performing administration of benefits, 401(k), leaves of absence, workers compensation (including familiarity/application of ERISA, ACA, ADA, and other applicable laws/regulations)
A minimum of 3 years experience in a people manager or leadership role
Must possess the following:
Broad and deep knowledge of the field and best practices

Ability to manage resources effectively, including internal and external stakeholders
Highly preferred but not required:
Experience with reputable HRIS, benefits, and payroll administration systems such as My Benefit Express, UKG (formerly UltiPro), ADP, or others
Multi-state experience for a public company
Proficiency at using the Microsoft Office suite of applications, especially Excel
