The Director of Human Resources is responsible for developing and directing the implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures and work standards for the department; directing the preparation and administration of the department’s budget; planning, organizing, administering, reviewing and evaluating the activities of professional, technical and office support staff; conferring with City management regarding major human resources, equal employment, or employee relation activities or issues; directing recruitment and selection activities for permanent and temporary City staff; directing comprehensive classification, job evaluation, compensation and benefits administration activities; risk/safety services, and representing the interests of the City in meetings with representatives of government agencies, professional and business organizations, employee organizations, and the public.
The City of Stockton is seeking a well-rounded, seasoned, creative, and forward-thinking Director of Human Resources. The ideal candidate will support the team, advocate for staff, be a problem-solver, and will have the ability to deal constructively with conflict and develop consensus. The new Director of Human Resources must thoroughly understand and possess experience with labor negotiations. They must also have the ability to lead and shape the culture of the organization while encouraging and promoting staff growth and development. The annual salary range for the Director of Human Resources is $157,153.44 – $200,543.88; appointment will be made depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
