Referred to locally as “Chesco,” the County includes the City of Coatesville, 15 Boroughs, 57 Townships, and numerous other unincorporated communities within its 762 square miles and is part of Philadelphia’s 6.2 million metropolitan area population. Chester County is the fastest-growing county in southeastern Pennsylvania, with 146,000 projected new residents by 2050.
The Director of Human Resources reports to the Board of Commissioners through the County Administrator and is responsible for the planning, directing, and implementing the County’s overall Human Resource functions and programs.
Chester County is seeking a visionary leader as its next Human Resources Director who can establish and maintain positive, trusting, and highly productive relationships and work closely with employees to build morale and support the development of an organizational team culture that provides effective and efficient public service delivery with the highest level of customer service.
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Human Resources Management, Business, Psychology, Public Administration, or related field is required (master’s preferred), coupled with 10 or more years of Human Resources experience with at least five years at a management level. Candidates with an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will also be considered. SHRM-CP Certified and/or the ability to obtain within a reasonable period of time following appointment is desired. The final selected candidate must also possess or be able to obtain a valid driver’s license. Residency is not required for the position; however, it is desired that the Human Resources Director be within a reasonable commuting distance to the County Administration Building.
