Director of Human Resources – Fairfield, Connecticut

Charming doesn’t begin to describe Fairfield, Connecticut, a 31.3 square-mile town with five miles of shoreline on the Long Island Sound. Fairfield is a top community in the Northeast, filled with beautiful beaches and marinas, serene parks and open space, and tons of shopping, fine dining, and entertainment — all within 50 miles of New York City. This Town has 61,512 residents but still manages to preserve a quaint, small-town feeling with diverse neighborhoods, top-notch schools, and amazing opportunities for fun and leisure.

The Town of Fairfield seeks an experienced leader and effective communicator to serve as the Town’s next Director of Human Resources. The ideal candidate will be proactive in developing strong working relationships within the HR Department, with all customer departments, and with various public agencies. They will be an HR expert, who is knowledgeable about human resource information systems (HRIS) and is skilled in foresight and organization. This individual will be responsible for implementing a Town-wide recruitment plan to serve the needs of all departments effectively, efficiently, and promptly. The successful candidate will have extensive experience with interpreting and applying terms and conditions of employment in labor contracts, as well as knowledge of Connecticut laws pertaining to collective bargaining.

The minimum qualifications for this position are a bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field. A master’s degree or post-graduate certificate in human resources is preferred. Preference may also be given to candidates that have experience working in the public sector. The annual salary range for this position range is $130,000-$150,000, dependent upon qualifications and experience.
