Employee Relations Specialist – Non-Union with Generalist Background

We are looking to add a Employee Relations Specialist to our growing HR team based in Newport Beach, CA. Go Rentals’ continues working to be the most guest service-centric company in the USA. To get there, we need exceptionally talented, bright, hospitable, and driven people! We have experienced unprecented growth which will continue into the coming year! We are adding 9 new states and 16 locations by May 2022, with an additional 21 locations into 2023 and beyond. With this growth, we need highly dedicated HR Team Members willing to go the extra mile for our team!

Go Rentals’ Employee Relations Specialists perform a variety of duties to promote employee welfare, such as resolving human relations problems and promoting an inclusive, healthy happy work environment. They interview team members and discuss personnel, human relations, and work-related problems that adversely affect morale, inclusivity, civility, and productivity. This position also evaluates and resolves human relations, workplace relations, and work-related problems, and meets with executive HR and field management to determine appropriate action. Our Employee Relations Specialist explains and provides direction to workers about company and governmental rules, regulations, procedures, and the need for compliance. They also work to ensure safety and compliance with OSHA and their field teams, including COVID protocols. This position requires travel to field locations across the country.

Additionally, an Employee Relations Specialist may have the following duties:

-Counsels employees regarding workplace issues.
-Trains manager’s on handling employee challenges, and implements best practice processes to support teams
-Completes intake of employee concerns and complaints, and works with the VP of Human Resources through investigations and correctional planning.
-Develops, schedules, and utilizes technical, legal, management, and interpersonal skills training to improve employee performance (All levels).
-Prepares reports to communicate information about employee concerns and comments and organizational actions taken
-Prepares Monthly Employee Newsletter designed to positively impact team member morale, highlight the “Greatest” of both individual contributors and teams!
-Attends conferences and meetings, as employee-management liaison, to facilitate communication between parties
-Prepares reports and enters and updates and other personnel forms and records, using Paycom!
-Audits schedules, time cards, and examines records to ensure compliance with standards and regulations in Safety, Performance, Benefits, and Wage and Hour
-Supports the Workers Comp Process of reporting, documentation, and administration
-Inspects facilities and location management to determine if safety, car wash, diving, lighting, sanitation, and security are adequate and to ensure compliance to standards
-Support’s the HR team’s objective to thoroughly and expeditiously investigate all associate concerns in a fair, unbiased and consistent manner. The ideal candidate for this position has strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling them to work successfully on a broad spectrum of employee and labor relations issues and projects.

Key role:
The Employee Relations Specialist will work proactively to: Investigate highly sensitive HR and Employee Relations issues, including: Conducting complainant intake, witness and subject interviews; analyzing data from various internal systems; case adjudication; proposing remedial action based on investigation findings; production of completed investigation documentation; independently manage assigned casework, bringing investigations to closure rapidly and definitively; design, collect, and analyze multiple levels of employee and stakeholder feedback; analyze aggregate casework data to identify issue trends and opportunities for proactive issue mitigation; analyze casework trends and produce strategic recommendations to the VP of HR to proactively address systemic issues; partner to engage in continuous improvement of communication vehicles and practices; partner in analysis and revision of people programs, policies, and practices to sustain a positive work environment for all team members and collaborate with managers, regionals, Corporate ER team, Legal teams, and 3rd Party Vendors on complex employee investigations. The individual also will work re-actively on critical employee relations issues that are crisis-oriented and typically can only be successfully completed with limited time. Balancing time between projects and crisis-response is a critical component for success in the position.

This position reports directly to the Vice President of Human Resources and is an integral part of the HR team in support of “Great Place To Work” initiatives and priorities.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• 3-5 years of Employee Relations experience (non-union)
• 5 years in progressive HR experience
• Demonstrated knowledge of national employment law with an emphasis on California
