Building material business with 9 locations in CA and 1 location in NV looking to hire energetic, self-motivated and knowledgeable HR professional to lead HR and Payroll teams and initiatives. Union experience is preferred (but not required) as some locations have Collective Bargaining Agreements. Heavy involvement with safety issues and management of DOT drivers, as well as drug testing and other FMCSA requirements. This is a fun, fast-paced position so you must be willing to roll up your sleeves and make things happen.
Light travel to other businesses is required periodically. Additional responsibilities include heavy employee relations issues, conflict resolution, recruitment for all businesses and all levels of positions, identification and development of management and non-management training programs and participation in quarterly General Manager meetings.
College degree preferred; HR certificate or PHR/SPHR degree preferred also. 10+ years prior HR and Payroll experience; 5+ years management experience including managing a team of direct reports is helpful. In depth knowledge of CA and federal laws, as well as familiarity with NV laws including wage and hour, FMLA, and payroll.
