HR Generalist

With guidance from the HR Director, the HR Generalist position will be responsible for various HR functions and ensuring the foundation is compliant with HR & employment laws. There will be mentorship provided by the existing HR Director, and opportunities for creative and aspiring HR candidate who wants to grow their career in HR.

Provide day-to-day HR operational support including but not limited to:

  • HR ADMINISTRATION and COMPLIANCE: Maintain HR compliance calendar and partner with HR Director to meet compliance deadlines. Provide recommendations and assist in the creation and review of company policies to ensure consistency, and compliance efficiency (updating employee handbook, policies, etc.).
  • RECRUITING: Post job openings, source candidates, schedule interviews, complete pre-screening interviews, and conduct background checks to fill positions as needed.
  • ONBOARDING/OFFBOARDING: Create, recommend and conduct new hire orientation and termination processes. Process transactions in the HR system such as new hires and personnel actions, changes of status, terminations, organizational changes, etc. through the required workflow process.
  • LEAVE of ABSENCE MANAGEMENT/WORKER’S COMPENSATION: Oversee leave of absence and administer worker’s compensation claims.
  • PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT/TRAINING: Partner with HR Director in creating and implementing a performance management process including training programs related to compliance, leadership development, etc.
  • EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT: Assess, recommend and develop programs designed to enhance employee morale and productivity. Lead engagement projects and partner with HR Director to initiate employee engagement activities that promote diversity, inclusion, and belonging. Develop a relationship with staff that promotes visibility and purpose to ensure employees feel valued and supported.
  • PAYROLL and BENEFITS: Occasionally perform duties as back-up for the Payroll and Benefits Administrator.
  • Perform ad hoc duties as assigned.


- Proven track record of forming effective relationships with client groups
- Experience with employee engagement and culture   building
- Demonstrated strong HR sensibility and critical   thinking 
- Ability to adapt quickly and be flexible in a dynamic environment
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail, self-starter with the ability to drive projects through to completion with minimal supervision
- Ability to professionally handle confidential data and information; high level of integrity
- Professional demeanor and excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Exceptional knowledge of CA state and federal labor laws


- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial Organizational Psychology, or related field required
- SHRM-CP/SCP or PHR/SPHR certification preferred
- Must have a minimum of 5 years of progressive human resources experience, preferably in California
