Human Resource Manager and Safety Coordinator

Position Summary

The Human Resources Manager/Safety Coordinator is an integral member of the Human Resources department and the plant management team. This position is responsible with the Manufacturing leadership team to uphold our drive our vision, mission, values and culture. In close coordination and collaboration with other members of the leadership team, the Human Resources Manager/Safety Coordinator will ensure that the business attracts, develops, and retains a competitively advantaged, talented and engaged workforce. Further, the Human Resources Manager/Safety Coordinator will coach and mentor the leadership team on management best practices and ensure quality and consistency across the growing platform.

Essential Job Functions and Accountabilities
HR Responsibilities
• Partner with local manufacturing management team on culture & leadership journey.
• Be a catalyst and change agent for learning culture. Conduct training as part of Caldwell College.
• Partner with local team on performance management, developing high potentials and succession plan.
• Act as local health and wellness program champion.
• Support supervisors in managing employee relations, coaching employees and solving employee relations issues, such a disciplinary action and attendance or performance problems.
• Mentor, coach and develop employees.
• Maintain employee records in compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment.
• Maintain staffing for positions specific to the manufacturing plant. Support corporate office recruiting needs as needed.
• Participate in and partner with supervisors on new hire orientation and onboarding.
• Maintain employment practices, procedures and records to ensure their compliance with government regulation, as well as with company policy and objectives.
• Be a key contact for employee questions and issues, troubleshoot problems and communicate with various vendors.
• Coordinate annual benefit open enrollment process for manufacturing plant employees. Maintain benefit records to ensure complete and current information is available as required.
• Coordinate performance review program and job evaluations to ensure effectiveness.
• Be involved in planning and coordinating employee events, lunches, company celebrations etc.
• Work with local management team to create a culture that encourages diversity, individual and team development, and organizational excellence free from harassment and in compliance with all federal and state employment laws.
• Administer various human resources plans and procedures for all company personnel; assists in development and implementation of human resources policies and procedures; assists in maintaining employee handbook and policies and procedures manual.
• Participate in developing Human Resources department goals, objectives, and systems.
• Administer compensation program; monitors performance evaluation program and revises as necessary.
• Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.
• Partner with other HR team members of corporate wide programs and implementations.
• Assist with payroll processing for manufacturing site including oversite of time and attendance program.
• Process and manage HR/payroll related data into HRIS and payroll system. Maintain necessary reports and records.
• Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

Safety Responsibility
• Responsible for a culture of safety and finding innovative ways to keep safety first for all employees.
• Responsible for chairing and organizing local HR Committee and Global Safety Council.
• Coordinate workers’ compensation program, including reporting to insurance company, maintaining OSHA log, ensuring completion of accident reports, and follow up with injured employee.
• Ensure annual safety training and all other specifically required training is provided for employees. Conducts comprehensive safety training for new hires and temporary employees.
• Maintain OSHA Log and prepare annual OSHA 300 report.
• Responsible for compliance with OSHA requirements.
• Ensure the development, implementation and updating of required written safety programs/plans.
• Conduct periodic safety walk-through inspections of worksites.
• Ensure that SDS database is maintained.

• Safety Professional/Trainer/Compliance expert.

• Culture/leadership facilitator and champion.
• Proficient with Payroll requirements/administration.
• Excellent computer skills required, including ability to learn new programs
• Experience in using automated payroll processing and HRIS.
• Experience with and knowledge of OSHA regulations.
• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to accurately maintain a large volume of information.
• Has helpful, professional, courteous interpersonal skills and attitude with genuine concern for resolving issues.
• Ability to work independently in an environment where interruptions are routine and frequent.
Education & Certification
• Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field is required. 5-7 years of work experience is required.
• Professional in Human Recourses (SPHR) certification preferred.
• Prior HR experience supporting a manufacturing plant required.
• Prior experience with Health and Safety requirements necessary for manufacturing facility.
• Proficient with Payroll requirements/administration.
• Experience in using automated payroll processing is helpful.
