Human Resource Manager

The Village of Glenview, a dynamic and financially strong community with a wide variety of beautiful neighborhoods, active commercial districts, world-class schools and parks, seeks progressive candidates to serve as its next Human Resource Manager. Located in Cook County approximately 20 miles north of the downtown Chicago loop and 10 miles northeast of Chicago O’Hare Airport, Glenview has been chosen by several Fortune 500 companies as the location for their headquarters and research facilities.

The Human Resource Manager’s position serves under the direction of the Director of Management Services, serves on the leadership team and is responsible for overseeing the Human Resources Division, including direct supervision responsibilities.

Major areas of responsibility include: employee relations; performance management, on boarding, personnel policy development and updates, and records management; benefits administration for the Village, retirees, and the Glenview Public Library; legal compliance and auditing; compensation and payroll; training and development; and being a strong advisor during collective bargaining matters.  Additionally, they serve as the Village delegate to the Intergovernmental Personnel Benefit Cooperative (IPBC).  Prior work experience with IPBC is considered a plus. 

Education and Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree with additional formal education, training, or certification in the area of Human Resources is desired. 
  • Candidates are expected to have at least 7-10 years of experience in Human Resources, benefits, payroll administration or similar field. PHR/SPHR or SHRM-SCP credentials are preferred.
  • Candidates must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and an inclusive/collaborative management style.
  • Candidates should be committed to strategic planning, excellence in customer service, and process improvement for enhanced operational management. 

Starting salary is $130,000+/- DOQ. The Village of Glenview offers a flexible work schedule with remote work options.
