Western NY Best Practices for Workplace Safety

Program Description

Workplace Safety is a key strategy to creating a safe, healthy environment for your employees. Are you prepared? This program will include:

  • Workplace Safety: What does workplace safety mean? We’ll talk about drugs at work, workplace violence and confrontation management, and slip and fall prevention.
  • Compliance: Including NYS Code 60, OSHA Workplace Violence Standard, NYSCRR 800.6 for government entities, and proper documentation retention and reporting.
  • Evolving threats: What liabilities are you exposing yourself to, and what is the real cost of safety?
  • The Future: How can you convince management of the need for safety changes or enhancements? How can you keep your workplace safe?

Additionally, come learn about the impact of Coronavirus in the workplace:

  • What should you know about Coronavirus?
  • Is your business or employees at risk?
  • Have you implemented a workplace response plan or control measures?
  • Is Coronavirus (COVID-19) a recordable illness?

The use of this official seal confirms that this Activity has met HR Certification Institute’s® (HRCI®)  criteria for recertification credit pre-approval.

About Our Presenters

Mario Rodriguez, Forseti Protection Group and Sean Thomas, Remedy Intelligent Staffing

Mr. Mario Rodriguez is a highly regarded leader in the security industry. Mr. Rodriguez is a New York State Certified General Instructor, the former President of the Judges and Police Conference of Erie County, Former Secretary Corresponding Secretary of the Erie County Sheriff’s Badge and Shield Club, former New York State Certified Defensive Tactics Instructor, Former New York State Certified Firearms Instructor and has supervised, mentored, and professionally developed over 300 officers. After 11 years in law enforcement, Mr. Rodriguez transitioned to the private sector in 2016. He is now responsible for the day-to-day operations of Forseti Protection Group including creating, communicating and implementing our vision, mission and goals. His strategic leadership to establish short and long-range goals, plans and evaluation of our organization’s performance provide strong leadership and will inspire the staff and stakeholders of any organization. In addition, Mr. Rodriguez is a graduate of the Emerging Business Leader program in the Amherst Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Arete Syndicate and a candidate for the University of Buffalo Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership

More than 11 years ago, Sean began working for a local staffing agency, Remedy Intelligent Staffing. He served as On-Site Manager where he provided day to day HR support for temporary employees at a large manufacturing facility in Tonawanda, NY. After several successful years at that location, Sean was asked to add another manufacturing facility located in Orchard Park, NY to his responsibilities. This resulted in Sean providing support to nearly 150 temporary employees on a daily basis. Almost 6 years ago, Sean’s commitment to the safety of temporary workers led to his current role as a Corporate Safety Consultant with Remedy’s parent company, Employbridge LLC. After receiving additional safety training and experience, Sean advanced his career by attending the OSHA Training Institute at The Rochester Institute of Technology and completed the requirements to become an OSHA Authorized Trainer for General Industry. In addition to conducting OSHA 10-hour General Industry classes, Sean has consulted with hundreds of clients to help develop and implement effective programs to protect workers from injuries and illnesses, provide safety resources and conduct mock OSHA audits at their facilities. Sean is currently on the Board of Directors for the Western New York Safety Conference and a member of the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP).
