A tight labor market has increased the pressures for HR teams to ensure that they tune up their hiring processes. To avoid a depleted talent pipeline and prevent their organizations from not being able to execute, it’s important for HR teams to help their internal clients build their prospective talent bench. This requires that they first have a succession plan and then create a process that fills the pipeline with adequately qualified talent, while also providing adequate disqualification criteria for talent that doesn’t fit. Hiring teams should then be well trained on the process. Management should be involved early and at all aspects in the development phase to ensure adequate buy-in, support, and confidence.
