Human Resources Business Partner

Are you passionate about helping organizations succeed through developing their people and facilitating best practices on talent management? The World Economic Forum LLC is looking for an enthusiastic and results-driven Human Resources Business Partner to join our US-based People and Culture team. This role will lead our efforts and initiatives to attract, develop and retain Forum talent in our New York office. In this role, you will implement and support all local talent development activities, including talent acquisition, learning and development, performance management and employee relations.

Reporting to the head of Human Resources for the USA, the Human Resources Business Partner will need to balance working autonomously in this regional office with working in close collaboration with others across a distributed environment, to drive talent management best practices with our New York team.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Build strong and trusting working relationships with internal stakeholders (hiring managers, People and Culture global teammates, and other Forum employees)
  • Manage talent development processes, including staffing strategy, learning and development, performance management, compensation review and promotions, employee relations; and act as trusted adviser to managers on these processes.
  • Develop and update local HR policies, including the Staff Handbook, in line with global HR policies. Provide guidance to the global People and Culture team in the development of global HR policies; consult with managers employees regarding Forum policies and practices
  • Develop and support the learning programme for New York staff through leveraging the global learning programme philosophy, framework and vendors
  • Ensure effective induction and orientation of new employees to the Forum
  • Consult with managers and staff on employee relations, conduct investigations and make recommendations in response to management and staff concerns
  • Keep abreast of US and New York-specific employment law requirements, and ensure fair and appropriate application

Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field (e.g. HR, psychology, social sciences), PHR/SPHR (Professional in Human Resources/ Senior Professional in Human Resources) certification preferred
  • Five to eight years of HR Business Partner experience, ideally in a multinational/matrix organization
  • Expertise in US and New York employment law required
  • Ability to leverage relationships throughout the organization to influence individuals and outcomes; experience of partnering with senior business leaders
  • Resourceful, well organized, highly dependable and efficient, with a strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
  • Strong customer focus; approachable, patient and empathetic
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to handle confidential/sensitive information in a tactful and diplomatic manner
  • Ability to work autonomously and independently and to effectively prioritize competing tasks from a variety of sources; adaptable and capable of navigating ambiguity
  • Sound judgement and independent thinker who knows when to escalate issues
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Strong technology skills - proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) required; ability to work with virtual meeting tools to run seamless global meetings
