The HR Partner (HRP) position serves as a consultant on human resource-related issues. The role assesses and anticipates HR-related needs, communicates needs proactively with the HR department and group management, and seeks to develop integrated solutions. The HRP forms and manages partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added service to management and employees in support of the College mission.
This position performs or serves as the contact point in the following functional areas: employee relations, training needs assessment, performance management, department onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, compensation administration and employment law compliance.

• Member of the HR Leadership Team and contributes to the strategic development of HR initiatives, programs and goals.
• Partners with management to communicate Human Resources policies, procedures, programs, and laws. Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation and assists in the development and implementation of Human Resources personnel policies and procedures.
• Assists in the resolution of complex employee relations issues.
• Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention. Assists with identifying and clarifying problems; evaluating potential solutions; coaching and counseling managers and employees.
• Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to department management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
• Helps to monitor the organization's culture so that it supports the attainment of the College's goals and promotes employee satisfaction.
• Maintains in-depth knowledge of employee labor contract(s) and legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees. Partners with the legal department as needed/required.
• Facilitates recruitment efforts for all regular and temporary employees, develops offers for new hires and transfer in collaboration with Employment and Compensation teams. Serves on selection committees, as appropriate.
• Provides guidance and input on organization restructures, workforce planning and succession planning.
• Identifies department training and individual coaching needs and partners with the Teaching & Learning Center to develop and deliver solutions.
• Partners with Manager, Compensation and Benefits to administer the compensation program, monitors the performance evaluation program and revises as necessary.
• Conducts exit interviews.
• Assists the Assistant General Counsel in investigations of employee complaints or concerns, as needed.
• Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to continually improve efficiency of the department and services performed.
• Other related duties as assigned.

BA or BS in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years' human resources experience.
• Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational development, employee and union relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws.
• Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills.
• Evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively influence at all levels.
Masters' degree in Human Resources or related field.
Experience in a unionized environment preferred.
