Qualifications/Special Skills:
• 5+ years progressive HR experience with at least 2 years as an HR manger, in the construction related industry
• Working knowledge of current Federal and State HR laws and regulations
• Demonstrated knowledge of employee recruitment, compensation, benefits, and employee relations
• 5+ year’s progressive experience in the Safety field, construction related industry preferred
• Working knowledge of CalOSHA/OSHA regulations
• Demonstrated knowledge of accident investigation, safety training, workers’ compensation claims administration, OSHA 300 logs/reporting
• Ability to effectively communicate and establish credibility at all levels of the organization
• Ability to identify and handle multiple priorities and/or sensitive issues with discretion and confidentiality

Essential Functions:
Human Resources
• Manage the search, recruit, review, hire, orientation, promote, retain and termination of employees
• Assist in development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures
• Coordinate professional skills training courses/classes as well as assist in delivering training
• Update/maintain employee handbook to comply with state and federal law
• Update job descriptions and participate with annual employee performance reviews
• Participate in development, administration, and negotiation of employee benefits
• Create and participate with corrective action interviews
• Create and write employee newsletters and payroll memos
• Assist with bi-weekly payroll
• Participate in Unemployment, COBRA, and other HR issues
• Partner with management regarding issues involving employee counseling, discipline, terminations and exit interviewing
• Maintain Human Resource records and ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations
• Diligently manage all workers compensation cases
• Demonstrate effective communication with staff, management, and other departments
• Coordinate company functions and community support activities
• Assist in development of policies and procedures for safety
• Conduct training on safety, new employee orientation, or other programs as required
• Co-create, implement, and enforce safety programs with management and ensure OSHA compliance
• Conduct post-accident and document investigations and make recommendations to prevent accident from reoccurring
• Maintain data for various safety reports such as first aids, recordables; graph and trend by type and area, etc.
• Identify jobsite and facility hazards and/or abate any unsafe behaviors or conditions in the work area
• Make personal contact with the working crews to build relationships, address concerns and identify improvement opportunities
• Complete special projects as assigned
• Meet attendance standards

Education:  Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management or equivalent experience and training plus certification
HR Certification PHR, SPHR preferred
