Philosopher Theodore Zeldin asked, “When will we make the same breakthroughs in the way we treat each other as we have made in technology?” The time is now! We have more access to how our brains operate than we have ever had. The question is, what are we going to do about it?

This session is designed to interpret and translate the latest in neuroscience research for HR professionals and show how this research and brain-based principles can be applied towards more effective leadership, team building and organizational effectiveness. The session begins with an examination of the latest thinking in neuroscience as a foundation. It then explores neuroscience concepts like mindfulness, mindset, safety, and bias and how these influence the integration of organizational culture and the human capital lifecycle. Since ongoing research continues to demonstrate that team optimization (as opposed to “employee performance optimization” alone) is the key to organizational success, the session will then explore the concept of psychological safety and how this acts as the primary predictor of team performance. By referencing “Project Aristotle” at Google (see link) and using the S.A.F.E.T.Y model we will guide HR professionals on how brain-based principles can be practically applied to enhance psychological safety and thus build and sustain optimal and high performing teams.
