Description
HALF FULL, OR HALF EMPTY:
WHAT IS THE STORY YOU ARE TELLING???

Speaker:

Dr. Pauline Arneberg
Organization Development Consultant

Imagine a workplace where you and everyone else in the organization are working in the same, jointly set direction. Such a group would be “unstoppable”. What if the best of the past became the basis for strategic planning efforts for the future, or teambuilding sessions focused on seeing how the team is currently collaborative, and supportive of individual efforts. These stories are already present, waiting to be released.

Appreciative Inquiry is an application of Social Construction Theory, and a way of understanding what is happening in our world.  This methodology was used in Afghanistan for organizational change and in many US organizations.

Participants will learn how to frame questions so that “what is right”, NOT “what is wrong” is the likely response.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
a. Compare and Contrast AI with other change methodologies
b. Create Provocative Propositions that help move a situation forward.
c. Recognize and shift deficit based thinking in themselves and others.
d. Create a new story that will bring people together to create a desired future.
